Meet Kephyan

Dr. Kephyan Sheppard is a native of Palm Springs, CA and is the Senior Pastor of Word of Life Fellowship Center in Desert Hot Springs, CA. He has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor’s of Organizational Leadership from Los Angeles Pacific University, a Master’s Degree in Divinity, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Next Dimension University, an Honorary Doctorate in Biblical Studies form Bread of Life Seminary (San Antonio, TX).
Under his leadership, Word of Life has served tens of thousands meals to the homeless community, has impacted thousands of families with toys for the holidays along with school supplies, and established a Bible College in the city of Desert Hot Springs. Furthermore, Dr. Sheppard is a former Commissioner of the city of Desert Hot Springs, an on-call chaplain to the city’s police department, an advisor to Desert Hot Springs High School’s Black Student Union, and a School Site Council member for several local schools.
In addition to his work in the community, Dr. Sheppard is an area representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He covers High schools and now Middle schools throughout the Valley teaching the Gospel during lunch period Bible studies. He also serves as an adjunct Professor at various Bible colleges while overseeing the Sheppard Institute of Kingdom Building.
On July 20, 2019, Dr. Kephyan Sheppard was consecrated to the office of Bishop in the International Churches of Praise and is a member of the African American Joint College of Bishops. Moreover, Dr. Sheppard is an accomplished musician; he has been playing the saxophone since the age of eight and has recorded 3 albums (Kephyan: Revealed and 90’s Love Songs & Beyond 1 and 2).
