More Than a Conqueror

Read this slow… You are MORE than a conqueror.

Read it again, out loud this time…YOU are MORE than CONQUEROR!!!

We may be in a tough season, but please reflect on the Apostle Paul’s words from Romans 8:37. “37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” The key phrase here is “in all these things”. In all what things? I am glad you asked. Paul is writing concerning the trials of life. As a Believer, trials and tribulations are par for the course. In his letter to Philippi Paul noted that he wanted to share in Christ’s sufferings, in Romans 5 he lets us know that trials produce perseverance and even character, and in the book of James we are told that trials mature us. So, as you can see, not only are trials a part of life, but they are purposeful.

But instead of focusing on the pain and frustrations from the trial, let’s approach this from the side of victory. Consider the context of Romans 8, despite all the trials he lists, he closes with an assurance. This assurance declares that regardless of what we go through, we will have victory in Christ Jesus. Furthermore, I really appreciate the intentionality of the words here. He declares that not only are we conquerors, but MORE than conquerors.

What does that mean? It means decisive victory! Because of our faith in Jesus we are odds on favorites regardless of what we face. To be more than conquerors means we face the trials of life knowing that we are not alone, we have a Father who fights for us. The fight is fixed, and not only will you conquer, but there is more coming your way after this trial!

I know things may be overwhelming, but this is when you have to learn to lean on the promises of God, here are a few:

· He loves you unconditionally Romans 8:38-39

o 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

· He will never leave you Deuteronomy 31:6

o Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

· His grace will get you through!

o Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Don’t lose heart, we will get through this not only as conquerors, but MORE than conquerors!
