What's in YOUR hand?

“Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” Exodus 4:2

Moses was faced with a great assignment. He was the one chosen by God to speak to Pharaoh and demand that he let the people go. Because of his past and his speech impediment, Moses was unsure of himself. One may think that he was willing to abort this great, God given assignment because of his inadequacies and insecurities. So, God asked a rhetorical question, “What’s in your hand?” and immediately Moses responded with the fact that he was holding a staff… and the rest is history.

He knows what’s in your hand, he put it there!

Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apartand appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” This lets us know that before we were born, we placed something great inside of us, something that could be used to change the world around us. You may be staring at Mission Impossible, crying out to God wondering how you will conquer and success, and He is asking, “What’s in YOUR hand?”

He has called you to do great things with the abilities in your hand!

The gift that is in your hand is a game changer. You have ability God given ability in your hand. It may seem miniscule or insignificant, but it is purposeful. Moses more than likely understand how something so small in his hand would lead to something so amazing. The same goes for you, there is a gift… in your hand, something that was designed to aid you as you move from potential to purpose. What is it? What can you do naturally that most struggle to do? THAT is the gift that’s in YOUR hand!

He knows you have inadequacies!

Moses immediately responded with his deficiency. “10 But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” God then replied, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” (Exodus 4) This exchange of dialogue gives us an assurance. God created us all, with all of our perceived flaws, and at the same time created us to change the world around us. Now, identify the gift that He has placed in your hand and remember what God told Moses, “12 Now go! I will be with you!”

Now is the time… start the business, write the book, launch the podcast, plan the vacation (for when it’s safe to travel), start looking for the house! Now is the time to make an impact with the GIFT that HE has placed in YOUR hand!
